The different types of Salesforce integrators

Not all Salesforce integrators play in the same league.
In the Salesforce ecosystem, there are different types of integrators to meet different needs:

  • Large ESNs and consulting firms such as Accenture, Capgemini or Deloitte.
    Their strengths: the ability to manage large-scale international projects, diversified experience in multiple sectors and familiarity with complex environments.
    They mainly target large accounts, often at high prices.
  • Medium-sized Salesforce pure players.
    Their core business is Salesforce deployment and integration.
    They have developed strong technical and functional expertise on all the clouds and products in the ecosystem.
    With their dedicated, certified consultants, they are the right choice for small and medium-sized businesses looking for a partner offering real business added value, at more affordable rates.
  • Small, specialized structures such as small ESNs or freelancers.
    They have developed specialized expertise in a particular module (Pardot, CPQ…) or sector (retail, real estate…).
    Their strengths: in-depth business knowledge, fast response times and attractive rates.
    They are appreciated by SMEs and start-ups for targeted projects, even if their ability to manage a roll-out from A to Z is sometimes limited.

Salesforce Partner Program

Salesforce relies on a vast ecosystem of partners to deploy and adapt its solution.
To help customers find their way around, a classification program has been set up.
It evaluates partners according to various criteria:

  • The value of Salesforce contracts generated (annual recurring revenue).
  • The number of consultants certified in the various modules (Sales, Marketing, Service, etc.).
  • Growth in sales and certifications.
  • Customer satisfaction measured during projects.
  • Level of expertise in certain products(CPQ, Marketing Cloud, Pardot…) or sectors.

All these elements are consolidated in a score that determines the partner’s level.
There are 4 different scores:

  • Base: This is the entry level, where partners begin their collaboration with Salesforce.
    Salesforce “Base” integrators are in the process of developing their expertise and obtaining their first certifications.
    Logically, they are excluded from our Top 10 Salesforce integrators.
  • Ridge: This level, which replaces the former Silver level, is awarded to partners who have demonstrated significant growth and the ability to deliver successful Salesforce integration projects.
  • Crest: This level replaces the former Gold level.
    Crest partners are Salesforce integrators recognized for their in-depth expertise and ability to deliver sophisticated Salesforce solutions.
    They achieve high scores in terms of customer satisfaction and performance.
  • Summit: This is the highest level, reserved for partners who demonstrate ongoing excellence in all aspects.
    These partners often play a strategic role on a global scale.
    In the past, the “Summit” level was called “Global Strategic Partner”.

These levels are reviewed annually.

How do you choose the right integrator for your project?

Beyond the labels of the partner program, what criteria should you take into account when choosing a Salesforce integrator?
The key to choosing a Salesforce integrator is to ask yourself the right questions:

How big and complex is your project?

This is the first question to ask.
If it’s an international roll-out involving numerous integrations, you’ll need an integrator of a certain size, experienced in this type of complex project.
On the other hand, for a more focused project with a limited scope, an agile and specialized structure will undoubtedly be more effective.

What’s your budget?

The choice of integrator will also depend on the budget allocated to the project.
Large consulting firms often charge higher rates than medium-sized pure players or small structures.
So you need to strike the right balance between the level of expertise required and the resources you have available.

Which Salesforce modules are affected?

Not all integrators are equal in their mastery of the various products in the Salesforce ecosystem.
Some are recognized experts in Marketing Cloud, others in Sales and Service Cloud.
Choose a Salesforce integrator who has carried out numerous projects on the product(s) concerned by your Salesforce project.

What is your business sector?

Some integrators have developed in-depth expertise in specific sectors, such as banking, insurance, retail and industry.
