In a nutshell, Overloop (formerly Prospect.io) is an AI-powered lead generation tool that sources leads from a database of 450 million contacts, drafts emails and LinkedIn messages, and then runs the sequences for you.

It is one of the most successful offerings on the European market in what could be called “AI-powered lead generation,” featuring an excellent multi-channel email and LinkedIn strategy and native GDPR compliance.

On the other hand, delegating comes at a price: you lose control over the writing, and the credit system makes the actual cost much higher than the listed €69.

Under what conditions is it worth the gamble? What is AI-generated content really worth? How much does a lead cost, once you break down the credit system?

Check out our full review of Overloop.

Our Review of Overloop: A Summary

Perimeter Score Our opinion
Overall rating 4,0 Overloop is one of the most successful offerings on the European market for AI-powered lead generation. Its multi-channel email and LinkedIn approach is excellent, and the promise of time savings is real. However, you have to be willing to relinquish control over the messages and deal with a credit system that can quickly drive up the cost.
Ease of use 4,5 This is the company’s long-standing strength. The interface is crystal clear; you can launch your first campaign in less than an hour, and the Chrome extension integrates seamlessly with LinkedIn and Sales Navigator. No technical expertise or operations team is required.
AI Writing 4,0 The AI analyzes each prospect’s website and LinkedIn profile to craft unique messages—without templates or placeholders. When it works, it’s impressive. But you can’t fine-tune the system when it misinterprets the context, and that’s a real challenge in French-speaking lead generation.
Multi-channel email + LinkedIn 4,3 The best of Overloop. Emails, invitations, messages, and profile visits all appear in a single timeline, with smart connections: if the prospect responds on LinkedIn, the email sequence stops. The warm-up is included right from the start.
Database 3,5 Claims 450 million contacts, with ICP search and real-time email verification. It’s convenient to do everything in one place, but data freshness is inconsistent, and each prospect sourced uses up credits, which drives up the actual cost.
Quality-price ratio 3,5 €69 per user per month on paper, but the Starter plan (250 credits, 1 email account, 3 campaigns) is too limited to do serious lead generation. The real entry point is the Growth plan at €99. For the same volume, a stack of specialized tools costs less, but requires you to put everything together yourself.
Customer support 4,0 A Brussels-based team that’s responsive during European business hours. U.S. customers complain about this, which is actually good news for you: you’re in the right time zone. Personalized onboarding is available only with the Enterprise plan.

From Prospect.io to the AI Agent: Understanding Where Overloop Is Headed

The story of Overloop clearly illustrates what people are buying today. In 2015, Vincenzo Ruggiero launched a simple Chrome extension in Brussels called Prospect.io: an email finder combined with a cold-emailing tool, which would go on to become one of the European pioneers in the category. The tool was renamed Overloop, expanded its scope to include CRM and email sequences, and over the years has claimed more than 5,000 business customers and 100,000 campaigns sent.

Then comes the pivot. Rather than chasing after Lemlist in the video editor space, Overloop is rebuilding its product around an AI engine trained on a decade’s worth of outbound data. The positioning has changed radically: it’s no longer about helping you prospect, but about prospecting on your behalf. The sales pitch even draws a comparison to a human SDR, promising to “free up 90% of your sales reps’ time.”

Last but not least: in late 2024, Overloop was acquired by Sortlist, the Belgian marketplace that connects businesses and agencies. It was a logical move: Sortlist captures approximately 600,000 B2B inquiries per month through inbound channels, Overloop handles outbound outreach, and both companies share a European presence and native GDPR compliance that no American competitor can claim.

The announced roadmap calls for integrating marketplace data into Overloop campaigns and introducing a tool to detect signals of intent (fundraising, hiring, job changes). It’s promising, but so far, it’s mostly just a promise.

In practical terms, you’re purchasing a product that’s still in transition. The old “classic” Overloop still coexists with Overloop AI (two separate apps, two logins on the site), and the French version of the site still has a few kinks to work out.

Nothing major, but it’s a sign that the platform is undergoing a restructuring, with the advantages (a steady pace of new releases, backing from a solid group) and disadvantages (a shifting scope) that this entails.

What Overloop’s AI Does for You (and What You No Longer Control)

Sourcing: Enter your ICP, and get leads every morning

It all starts with defining your ideal customer profile: industry, company size, job title, location, and level of seniority. Overloop then searches its database of 450 million contacts and continuously updates your lists every day, without any action required on your part. Each prospect comes with an email address verified in real time by the built-in email finder, which reduces bounces and protects your deliverability.

If you prefer to maintain control over your targeting, the Chrome extension lets you add prospects directly from LinkedIn or Sales Navigator—either individually or in bulk—from search results. In fact, that’s the approach we recommend to get started: you handle the manual targeting, while the drafting and execution are handled by the platform.

One caveat regarding the database: the accuracy of the contact information varies, which is typical for all B2B databases of this size, but here, every outdated entry costs you a credit.

Content Creation: Unique Messages, Without Templates or Variables

This is the most noticeable departure from traditional tools. On Overloop, you won’t find any variables like {{first name}} {{entreprise}} to add, nor any template library to maintain.

For each prospect, the AI analyzes the company’s website, LinkedIn profile, and publicly available information, then drafts a message tailored to that context: a hook based on a recent news story, a reference to the company’s positioning, an angle suited to the recipient’s role, and so on.

In principle, this is exactly the right approach: an average message that’s truly tailored to the context almost always beats an excellent template sent to 500 people. The time savings are enormous for anyone who used to write their emails one by one.

But we need to be realistic about the quality of the output: it varies! Some messages hit the mark, while others miss an obvious context that a human would have picked up on. You can proofread and edit messages before sending them or switch certain steps to manual drafting, but you can’t really “retrain” the engine once it’s picked up a bad habit.

Multichannel sequences: the real highlight

Once prospects have been identified and messages drafted, Overloop orchestrates multichannel sequences that combine emails, profile visits, LinkedIn invitations, and direct messages in a visual timeline. The connections are smart: a prospect who responds on LinkedIn is automatically removed from the email sequence, and a bounced email triggers a switch to LinkedIn. You can also insert manual steps—such as making a phone call—for your highest-value accounts.

The LinkedIn automation component runs in the cloud with time delays that mimic human behavior and strict daily limits. No tool in this category can guarantee zero risk of account restrictions, but Overloop’s cautious approach is among the best.

Three elements round out the system and are worth highlighting:

  • The warm-up email is included starting with the first plan, whereas Lemlist reserves it for its higher-tier plans.
  • The unified inbox brings together email and LinkedIn conversations in one place, with synchronization to your CRM (HubSpot and Pipedrive starting with the Growth plan; Salesforce with the Enterprise plan).
  • The built-in pipeline, carried over from the original Overloop, is surprisingly good: if you start by tracking data in a spreadsheet, it’s actually one of the tool’s most pleasant surprises.

On the other hand, “pure” email is no longer the company’s area of expertise—as paradoxical as that may seem for a tool that was once used for cold emailing. No native A/B testing, less in-depth analytics than those offered by specialized providers, and tracking that can sometimes be imprecise. If high-volume email is your sole channel, a dedicated cold-emailing tool will serve you better.

Overloop Pricing: 3 Plans and a Credit System

Overloop offers three plans, billed per user per month:

Plan Price Credits / month Email Accounts Active Campaigns Key Takeaways
Starter 69€ per user per month 250 1 3 Warm-up and database included; Slack and Zapier integrations
Growth 99€ per user per month 500 3 10 Add HubSpot, Pipedrive, and the REST API
Enterprise On request 1 000 Unlimited Unlimited Salesforce, dedicated IP, 1-on-1 onboarding, dedicated CSM

The prices listed don’t mean much until you understand how credits work, which is the true core of the business model:

  • Each lead sourced from the Overloop database uses up 1 credit.
  • Each email address found also uses up 1 credit, whether the prospect comes from the database or from your own import.
  • Unused credits do not carry over from one month to the next, except in the case of annual billing, where the full amount is available in advance for 12 months.

Let’s do the math for the Starter plan. 250 credits per month translates to about 12 new leads sourced per business day—and even fewer if you’re also using email search credits on your imports. That works out to an implicit cost of about €0.28 per lead, whereas a specialized email finder charges around one cent per verified address.

Add the limit to just one connected email account—even though Overloop itself recommends using multiple accounts to scale up—and the cap of three active campaigns, which prevents you from testing multiple ICPs at the same time.

The Starter is not a production plan; it is a validation plan.

The Salesdorado Review
Think of the Starter plan as an extended test run: it’s meant to verify that AI-powered content works in your market, not for serious lead generation. The real entry point is the Growth plan at €99, and that’s the figure you should compare to your current tech stack. If you’re already paying separately for a database, an email finder, a sequencing tool, and a warm-up tool, bundling them together might make sense. If you’re just looking to set up a single channel, it’s expensive.

What we like (and don’t like)

  • The most seamless email + LinkedIn multichannel solution in its category: a single timeline, automatic follow-ups based on responses, and a unified inbox. That’s what best justifies the price.
  • AI-powered content creation without templates: messages that are truly tailored to each prospect—including follow-ups—without the need to maintain variables. A massive time saver when the engine gets it right.
  • A comprehensive system: database, email finder, email sequences, warm-up, and CRM—all in one place. No need to tinker with integrations or transfer data between four different tools.
  • The warm-up is included right from the start, whereas many competitors offer it as an optional extra.
  • European presence: Belgian publisher, documented GDPR compliance, CASA Tier 2 certification, and support during French business hours. This makes it much easier to expand into the European market.
  • It’s very easy to get started, thanks to a decade of product development: launch your first campaign in less than an hour.

  • AI is a black box: when the engine misidentifies the language or context, the options for fine-tuning are limited. This is a deal-breaker for French-speaking prospecting without proofreading.
  • The credit system drives up the cost: €0.28 per lead sourced through Starter, credits that expire at the end of the month, and the inconsistent quality of the database leads to credits being wasted on outdated records.
  • The Starter plan is too limited: 1 email account and 3 campaigns—it’s a trial plan that costs €69 per month. That’s not exactly cheap.
  • Email alone falls short: no native A/B testing, limited analytics, and tracking that can sometimes be inaccurate. Cold emailing specialists perform better on this channel alone.
  • No phone channel: no dialer or automated call steps—only manual tasks to be added to the sequences.
  • A product in transition: both the classic and AI versions coexist, and Sortlist’s roadmap has yet to be fully realized.

Overloop vs. Lemlist and La Growth Machine

These three tools are often lumped together under the umbrella term “multichannel prospecting,” but they embody different philosophies, and that’s what should guide your choice:

  • Lemlist is a management tool: you write your sequences, maintain your templates and variables, and the tool excels at execution, with industry-leading deliverability and visual personalization (custom images and videos) as its hallmark. AI was added on top of a pre-AI product. It’s the right choice if your copywriting is a competitive advantage that you definitely don’t want to delegate, or if you already have your own data and don’t need a built-in database.
  • The Growth Machine It excels at orchestration: highly flexible multichannel sequences, cascading enrichment, and greater control over each step—all at a comparable price point. It’s the middle-of-the-road option for teams that want sophisticated multichannel capabilities while retaining control over their messaging.

Overloop handles the entire process: targeting, copywriting, and execution are all handled by the platform. If you compare it to Apollo, the approach is even more different: Apollo has the edge in database depth and entry price, but its LinkedIn capabilities are limited, and its DNA remains American—including its data and compliance standards.

Our verdict: Who is Overloop designed for?

Overloop is for you if:

  • Are you a founder, a freelancer, or part of a small sales team (1 to 5 people), and does prospecting take up time you don’t have?
  • Your volume is reasonable (let’s say fewer than 500 new leads per month), and you prioritize consistency over raw volume.
  • You’re looking for new business in Europe, and GDPR compliance is a key factor in your selection criteria.
  • Do you prefer an integrated system to a collection of specialized tools that require maintenance?
  • You agree to proofread what the AI generates rather than writing it yourself.

Skip it if :

  • Your copywriting is your main weapon, and you’ll never delegate the writing.
  • If you’re handling high volumes, credit and campaign limits will quickly hold you back, and a specialized stack will be more profitable.
  • High-intensity cold emailing is your go-to channel, as dedicated tools perform better in terms of deliverability and A/B testing.
  • The phone is an integral part of your sales cycle, and you want everything in a single tool.

Final rating: 4/5. Overloop has successfully pulled off a pivot that many established providers have failed to achieve: shifting from a tool that helps you prospect to a system that prospects for you, with a truly sophisticated multi-channel email and LinkedIn strategy and a strong European presence. The limitations are the exact flip side of the promise: less control over the messages and an actual cost driven by credits rather than the listed price. The 14-day trial lets you decide on the only question that matters: the quality of the AI-generated content for your own prospects.

Our final verdict
Overloop is the most reliable option in Europe for outsourcing lead generation to AI, provided you sign up for the Growth plan and review what the engine generates. Try it free for 14 days on a sample of your real leads to form your own opinion.
